History of our company
Powabear was formed in 2021 to deliver and service cost effective power backup systems and provide complete solutions. We aim to simplify the power backup paradigm for our customers by providing assistance and advice on custom power backup solutions for homes and business. We aim to achieve this by providing solutions designed to overcome the challenge of load shedding at any budget.

How do I determine the Voltage requirements of my internet hardware devices?
View the labels on the back of the router and/or the power supply of the relevant device.
What can I power with my Powabear Mini UPS?
You can power multiple devices at the same time, including your Fibre Box (ONT) and/or a WiFi Fibre or LTE router. You can also charge any other 5V device using a USB charger.
What is a UPS?
A UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) provides your electronic devices with seamless power when there’s a power outage. They also help to protect your devices from getting damaged during power surges, short circuits and other irregularities in electric supply.
How long does delivery take?
Once we have received your payment, the product is shipped to you by courier within 2 – 3 business days, alternatively same day delivery can be arranged in certain areas.
What kind of service and support can I expect?
All UPS’s carry a 300 cycle or 1 year warranty, and rentals are fully supported and will be swopped out, no questions asked, as long as the faulty unit is received at point of delivery.
What equipment do I receive with my PowaBear Mini UPS?
You will receive a PowaBear Mini UPS with a capacity of 44,4 wh, a Y power cable with either a 12, 12, 5 or a 12, 9, 5 volt splitter cable and three connector adapters.
What do I do if I only have a 9V internet hardware device and DC power supply?
You will have to purchase a 12V 3A DC power supply to power your PowaBear Mini.
Do you have a user manual?
Yes we do, once you have bought a PowaBear product the relevant manual is placed in your account and a copy will be available at https://powabear.com/my-account/downloads/. It is the user’s sole responsibility to ensure that they connect the PowaBear correctly to their internet connection hardware. Failure to do so could lead to damage to the PowaBear UPS as well as the user’s hardware.
What is the recharge time?
Once fully depleted the PowaBear Mini UPS is expected to be fully recharged within 3 – 4 hours.
Capacity to handle load shedding?
Under test conditions the PowaBear Mini UPS uses 25% of charge, supporting an ONT and Fibre Router, for the standard 2.5 hours of loadshedding. Circuitry shutdown occurs around 5 hours at 45% charge. The UPS is expected to maintain power backup for loadshedding level 8 events.
What are the power requirements of the PowaBear Mini UPS?
The PowaBear Mini UPS requires a DC 12V 3A power supply.
What is the lifespan of the PowaBear Mini?
The PowaBear Mini UPS is rated to 300 cycles or 1 year but is expected to operate effectively for 36 months.
Do I have to do anything to manage my PowaBear Mini UPS?
There is nothing you have to do, simply leave it plugged in to a power source. Leave your devices (eg. router and Fibre box) connected to the UPS to ensure it draws enough power to keep charged. The UPS will automatically and seamlessly keep your devices powered during power outages.
